SOCIAL MEDIA AND CAMPUS LIFE
Many colleges have now a student social media code of conduct and there is a good reason why. Your social media activity could affect not only your personal life and your campus life but also your future possibility of employment.
When you use social media to detail your class schedule, your social plans, post your phone number, or personal email for your friends, they are not the only ones to see your posts. This could potentially put you in personal danger by inviting dorm room break-ins or other theft.
Posting inappropriate pictures or maybe making derogatory or inappropriate comments in the digital world might not be monitored by the school but many employers and recruiters now check your social media activity before they decide whether to hire you. You might not ever get a call back even though you graduated at the top of your class just because your social media activity might not be appropriate for the company who was contemplating on hiring you.
Evaluate everything you post and many social media sites offer privacy setting where you only share information with certain individuals or groups. When you have a position interview you need to be ready to answer your social media activity. Be honest when answering the questions. In many cases they already know more than you think.
