Lay-a-Way might be for some us our best friend

saveAgain this year several retailers will offer lay-away to pay for our holiday purchases. Like everything else this does not come without strings attached to them. One huge positive for this form of paying for your Holiday purchases is that they are paid for and you are not facing the January credit card bill.

Another cool reason to use lay-away is that you don’t have to hide your purchases at home. We all know how great kids are in finding Christmas presents, you don’t have to remember where you put it either.

Before you consider using Lay-away make sure you understand the retailer’s terms and conditions. Here is where it does pay when you read the small print. Some of them might charge you an extra onetime fee for them to hold your purchases. Many times the lay-away takes away valuable storage space the retailer needs for the long holiday season, or some of them have to rent extra storage space, and to them space is money. They might have a drop dead date by when you have to make your last payment or they have a minimum payment amount you have to make each week to keep your purchases secured without them canceling your layaway for nonpayment.

They also will tell you in the terms and conditions if they will give you credit if your purchases are on sale with them or another retailer. Just make sure you read the terms and conditions before you put your purchases into lay-away.
