Quick last minute Staycation ideas
How does a friendly competition of laser tag or paint ball sound? After the competition have a weenie roast or a small family BBQ.
- Have a friendly bowing completion. I am sure there will be a day when it rains and bowling would be a great indoor activity. When you have younger kids most bowling lanes will have gutter guards to make the game fun for them too.
Evening at the Movies. Many cities have movie theaters whose pricing is a bit more family friendly and many of them do play the more current movies. You might make it a Dinner and a movie so you don’t have to pay for the more expensive beverages and snacks at the movie theater.
Attending a minor League Sporting Event. Many Major League sports events are too pricey for families but many cities have minor league teams that play during the summer months and their fees are much more reasonable and affordable for families.
Backyard camping is always fun with the kids. Just pitch the tent and roll out the sleeping bags. Build a back yard fire when you can or use the grill as a substitute. Tell ghost stories or some other fun thing.
Build a kite and take it out to an open area to fly them.
Go to your local pool and just spend a day swimming and playing in the water.
Visit the local Library. When was the last time you visited the library. You might not realize that the library has great activities during the summer.
Have a board game evening. You be surprised how fun playing the old fashion board games can be.
Visit a festival. During the summer you can find different festivals that may be close to you. Some even have battle re-creations. How cool is it to tuck in a History lesson during the summer and the kids don’t even realizing that they are learning something.
