Cities Millennials are favoring

Cities Millennials are favoringI just ran across the Generationed City project that was conducted by the University of Waterloo, Faculty of Environment School of planning. Being in Real Estate it is always interesting to see what the changes and trends are in the location of where different generations moving to.

What this study has found so far does not surprise me. It reiterates what I see happening even in smaller cities. This study focused on the move of the Millennials and showed what neighborhoods they prefer within several cities.

Some of the Cities Millennials favored Salt Lake City UT, Austin TX, Calgary AB, Edmonton AB, Denver CO, Washington DC, Seattle WA, San Diego CA, Huston TX, and Las Vegas NV.

Some of the Cities with the least Millennials are Cincinnati OH, Miami FL, Tampa FL, Providence RI, Detroit MI, Hartford CT, Cleveland OH, Rochester NY, Buffalo NY, and Pittsburg PA.

When I look at the list of Cities with the most or the least Millennials it does make since and I do understand what they are saying. The study is still ongoing and it will be interesting to see the final result. What the study already has found is that the Millennials are located more centrally within the cities compared to the baby boomers who are still more located in the urban areas.

I covered this trend in a blog I had written in March of 2014 titled “Selling your home to today’s buyer”, which focused on buyers within the central Indiana area. Like the Study from the University of Waterloo, I had noticed the Millennial trend of being more central and Boomers moving trend of stating more urban.

When you are looking for a real estate firm that keeps up with today’s buyer’s trend put the Settles Team as one of your team players on your side.
