Winter is here and many times it is just to cold to do anything outside. This is a perfect time to plan for your outdoor projects you can accomplish in the spring, summer, or fall. It does not matter if you own your house, rent a house or apartment, there are things you can do to make your personal outdoor space a little more appealing to you.

OK granted… when you own your own house and it comes with a yard you have a lot more options compared to when you rent a home or when you are in an apartment.

Even when you are in a rented home or apartment there are thing you can do to plan for spring gardening. One option for you would be container gardening. I covered that subject in one of my past blogs called ā€œIndoor container gardening is great for small spacesā€.

When you are going to a garden center or looking for advice online you need to have several things handy. You need to know in what growing zone you live. When you don’t know, here is a link to a website that can help you identify your growing zone. You also need to know what area of your yard you are planning to plant in and how much sun, if any, the area gets. When you are planning on a project that is directly around the house, you also need to know in what direction the wall is facing.

Another thing you do need to decide on is what you are looking to accomplish. Are you looking for more color? When would you lie the color to appear? Would you like to attract butterflies? Do you plan on hiding an ugly air conditioner or other object?
