Currently the mortgage rate is still low, and there is not much competition during the winter due to the holiday season. Many families are traveling to celebrate with their out of state family.

The inventory in the winter is lower but you as the buyer you will work with Sellers who are motivated, ready to make a move and they are more than willing to be more flexible on pricing or with buyer’s concessions.

Naturally, buyers who are looking during the cold season of the year are ready to buy and truly willing to make the jump to home ownership. Many buyers are ready to deck the halls in their own 4 walls.

Another great plus, when looking for a home during the winter is that you can truly see all the major systems at work. Sure it would be great to see a home with a nice landscaped yard, but I would rather see a home who’s heating, roofing, windows and guttering is in working order during the cold and wettest season of the year.

It will cost much more to fix the heater, leaky windows or the roof compared to adding a personal touch to the landscaping in the spring. Another thing you will be able to see during the winter, what you do not have during the warm weather season, is snow. You will be able to see how good the city/county and your neighbors are cleaning the streets and sidewalks.
