For any Indianapolis Landlord that owns 1 or more rental units, January 1, 2015 has now become an important date to remember.
When you rent out one or more properties within Indianapolis IN you will be required to register the property and the owner of the property with the city of Indianapolis.
Property Managers or landlords must provide:
* owner name
* address
* phone number
* Pay a $5 annual fee.
Property Managers or Landlords also must also affirm that there are no unpaid taxes or un-remediated code violations on any of the properties they are registering. When a rental property is not registered, the City of Indianapolis IN will levy a fine of $500.
There are still several unanswered questions regarding this City Code, and as soon I have more information, I will make additions to this post. Attached is a PDF of the AMENDPROP14-195Miller08-18-14.
UPDATE:
Landlords have a few more days to register. Final day to register to avid a penalty is march the 15th. Attached is the information on where you need to go to accomplish that.
