Check your attitude at the coat check

Karli and GracieWe all have heard the saying “You get what you expect” and it does hold true. Not sure if I am going to call it a vibe or a sense that is portrayed with any of the expectations and in some sense you also could call it karma.

Take dogs for instance. Dogs are very much in tune with their owner and all you need to do is watch a dog to find out what a dog’s owner is feeling or thinking. Most of the time when a dog lays right next to the owner’s feet while he or she is in conversation with another person. The dog is not only very well trained but the owner is calm.

This dog feels the calming effect of his owner and has no fear and knows he is safe. With that he just can stretch out and relax knowing his owner will keep him safe.

The same goes for individuals. When you walk in a room and you are comfortable within your own skin, it will show and the room will feel it. When you walk into a room and you already thinking negative about the entire situation or you are bringing your troubles or desperations with you into the room the room will reciprocate with the same attitude towards you and no matter how desperate they might need your services they might not going to call you.

Who likes to work or team up with negative people?

A great example is a good friend of mine; we just had that discussion about “you get what you expect” and the karma of things. She was at a meeting just this week and tried a new approach while stepping into the room. She left all of her office issues and negativity at the “coat check” outside and stepped into the room with a much more positive outlook.

Right after the meeting she called me to let me know that she was invited to speak in front of a group of her peers about her work she has been doing.

It again holds true: You get what you expect. So leave the negative attitude outside with the “coat check” and you might just not pick it back up on the way back because things have changed.
